Breaking Bread

I’ve been in Wilmington for three months. My calendar is full. I attend networking events. I reach out to dynamic women. I set up coffees. I go to events with social clubs.

And, my network is growing. Friendships are forming.

I am a firm believer that you can find your inner circle with love, compassion and putting yourself out there.

The other night, nine amazing and dynamic women gathered in my backyard under the bistro lights to break bread, drink wine and share in each others’ lives. They came from different parts of my life: neighbors, a woman I reached out to before I even moved here, dynamic women from a variety of networking events I attended. All amazing in their own right. All unique. All filled with love.

I invited about 20 women. About half came. Pretty good turn out. And I’m not sure where we all would have sat if everyone had attended!

Here’s the thing, you cultivate friendships. When I meet women, I pay close attention to the inner person. I look for genuine, kind and loving people. I invite those women into my inner circle.

I’ve been told one of my superpowers is being a super connector. I bring together women who might not otherwise meet but will share in their lives in vulnerable and honest ways. Some events are large. Some are small. Some are at my home. Some are out. The group dynamics and trust are the most important aspects of the get togethers.

When you find a genuine person with whom you connect, honor it with an effort to build a sincere and special relationship. You won’t regret it. You will be surprised how many of the women in your life are looking for the same thing. I may be a super connector, but you, too, can bring together and cultivate your inner circle.

I challenge you to watch for someone, just one person, who you connect with on a different level this week. Invite her to coffee or wine.
